OMG! I could not believe it! I got an email from Facebook that they lost my my settings. This is, of course, very a silly and unprofessional mistake from their part. whatever happened to backups? If they can loose notification settings they can just as easily misplace entire accounts. Bits are bits after all.

But, anyway bad things happen, even to good people. So okay... no worry, I'll reset it. But just look at this email:

Unfortunately, the settings that control which email notifications get sent to you were lost. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

To reset your email notification settings, go to:

http://www.facebook.com/editaccount.php?notifications

Thanks,
The Facebook Team

If you look at it. It looks quite legitimate. But it also looks all the Phising spam all of us get trying to trick me into logging into my bank-account by just clicking on the little link in the email. I fact I assumed it was a rather well executed Phishing! But when i logged into facebook (just in case), they had the same notice on their page! This thing really was send by facebook!

So now Facebook is collaborating with scammers in training people to click on links in emails. Making them ready targets for phishing scams.

What difference would it have made if they didn't put the link and just put "Login to facebook to correct our mistake.". No links to fake, no nothing. Everybody's save. And it's not that Facebook doesn't know this either. They just don't care.

Most serious organizations have now become wise enough and never adding links in there communication emails. Making all email that do have links even more suspicious.

You should never click on links in emails saying that they come from a organization you have dealings with. You will most likely be giving an involuntary donation to organized crime. If you want to go to the site anyway, just write the website in your browser yourself (no cut and paste!) and you'll be quite safe.

Bad, bad & evil Fakebook! Shame on you!
